Ikea Catalog 2.0

Ikea

"This new interactive video/catalogue for IKEA is simply brilliant. From a purely cinematographic perspective, the quick-cut intro sequences followed by ultra slow-motion shots convey the message of relaxation and escape. The added element of interactivity makes the experience novel and, to use a horrible web marketing term, “sticky.”

The voyeuristic thrill of switching angles on the lives of ordinary people is a clever seduction into what essentially amounts to a product catalogue. But now the catalogue is given context and meaning—there’s even the suggestion of a narrative arc. Brilliant.

I believe the site was built by Forsman & Bodenfors."

Fifa Viral

790

"To promote the new football game FIFA Street 3, EA Games just released this cool new viral. It shows some high quality extreme football from Mexico. They sure used some 3D add-ons, but that doesn't make it less interesting. Anyhow, it's made by W+K Amsterdam and launched across Europe."

Universal Everything x Nokia x You

Nokiajs

"Josh Spear fave Matt Pyke, founder of Universal Everything, is continuing his stunning video and branding work with Nokia but this time wants us to all join in too.

To help create a new animation for Nokia stores, Universal Everything is throwing a collaborative animation competition. To enter, all you need to do is take pictures of you, or anyone you know, holding a blank piece of paper. Upload the pics to the contest's Flickr site and the design wizards at Universal Everything will draw cell animation onto each blank frame. The aim is to engage thousands of people around the world and create a truly global animation project that keeps growing and growing.

The contributor who gets the most frames into the final animation wins a Nokia N95 8GB. That's good, but the real prize would be getting to see your shot in one of Universal Everything's industry-leading animations."

Juan Cabral And His Inspiration For The Cadbury Gorilla

"Awhile ago, we speculated that Juan Cabral and Fallon UK might have been inspired by The Mighty Boosh when creating that drumming Cadbury gorilla. No big deal. We forgot all about it. Recently, other folks have been saying he was way more than inspired from a commercial on YouTube (click here for the video).

Scamp broke the story: 'Jury gossip reveals he originally presented the idea in the form of a YouTube clip. Not only that, but he had previously presented it to Cinzano (in Argentina), who didn't bite.'

First off - so, he sees this thing on YouTube and pitches it to one client who doesn't love it. He then recycles it and serves it up to Cadbury. And what? Everyone recycles."

Honda's Problem Playground

Picture_1_2 "Problem Playground introduces the new Honda FCX Clarity, the first zero-emission hydrogen car to go into production. The ad takes as its theme the idea of game-playing as a means of solving difficulties and is a continuation of the recent print campaign, which encouraged people online to a special website, problemplayground.com. On the TV spot, we find a bunch of boffins using retro children’s games, such as jigsaw puzzles and Rubik’s cubes, to illustrate engineering problems that have been solved by Honda, including the hybrid engine and energy efficient solar panels. They even slot in a small reference to Cog by creating a chain reaction with coffee cups and sugar cubes on a tea break."

"The Ultimate Break"

Akama2_2

"If you haven’t already seen this stunning viral from Paris-based Akama Studio, this won’t be the last time. And rightly so. “The Ultimate Break” is an exquisitely crafted CG short film disguised as a promo for a French Kit Kat website (of all things).

Brought to us by JWT Paris and Wanda Productions—whose animation showcase is a destination in itself."
